Javeria and Ahad | 4 Day Wedding - Mayoon

It's not uncommon for Pakistani and Indian weddings to last several days. Several events culminate to the Shaadi which is concluded in Muslim weddings with the Walima. So the order typically goes like this: Mayoon, Mehndi, Shaadi, Walima. I had the pleasure of photographing all four events for Javeria and Ahad in South Florida. This is the Mayoon - Perhaps the smallest of the four events, but also the most intimate where family get an opportunity to give their blessings (Rasms) and do various preparations.

I often run into people at weddings who know me from other weddings, but it's rare that it happens a thousand or so miles away. While photographing this wedding in Philadelphia, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I had met several of the guests before. The world is smaller than I think, I thought. Of course, it all happened because of a referral, which is how the bride and groom learned about me. Nonetheless, it's nice feeling at home even in in Philly. Naazneen and Faraz's wedding was nothing short of spectacular. The banquet hall had the elegance of a an older, more traditional building you would likely only find in the north east. This set the stage for a very elegant evening of festivities.
